What brand of oil is best for my Kawasaki EX250 Ninja?

Its an 07 if that has anything to do with it. I want to use full synthetic, so what brand is best and how many quarts will I need?|||Hi Sonya,,

Amsoil,Mobil 1,Belray.

Belray is my personal choice, but it%26#039;s not a practical recommendation for most folks because of price %26amp; availability

Amsoil is as good as anything,,,Way far better than most.

My OPINION of their distribution/marketting is only thing that detracts from the PRODUCT.

Nothin about the OIL.

Excellent OIL,,,weird %26quot;product%26quot;.

Same goes for BelRay.

Mobil 1 is a Rock Solid member of the 3-way tie for %26quot;Best%26quot;.

In real-world useage,,outside of Test Labs,,,it works as well as anything and is actually Best in several respects.

The one thing which Most distinguishes it from it%26#039;s peers is it%26#039;s Price and Availability.

It%26#039;s often available %26quot;On Sale%26quot;,,,comes in %26quot;bulk%26quot; at a decent discount,,,,and you can get it almost anywhere.

Its never hard to find .

......................

Mobil 1 wins out among All the Best oils,,,,mostly due to the CONVENIENCE of using it.

*Take anything NEGATIVE about using Synthetics with a grain of salt.

You must realize than many folk%26#039;s Refference Material in their Research Library has some Pages Stuck Together,,,somehow or another.

So as they sit there and memorize the oil co%26#039;s marketting department translation of Technical data,,,,

They inadvertently flip right past lots of actual facts and details.

They get up,,Flush their %26quot;desk%26quot;,,,wash their hands,,,and never give a second thought to how little they actually know.

Regardless how much ax-grinding ,self-serving promotional material they%26#039;ve been impressed by.

Synthetic is what you SHOULD be using

That%26#039;s a fact

Mobil is %26quot;Best BRAND%26quot;,,,most practical choice for most people.

That%26#039;s just my opinion.

If Amsoil is Convenient,,,,then any advantage Mobil has is just a moot point

Your bike takes 2 Qt%26#039;s with a Filter Change,,

or

1.5 Qts if you dont change the filter|||Hi I would advise you not to use FULL synthetic as there is no need to. Semi synthetic is better and here is why.

If you call any motorcycle shop they%26#039;ll tell you it%26#039;s true. With the Ninja 250 it has what is called a %26quot;wet clutch%26quot; and that is good!

But what that means is that the clutch uses the same oil the engine is using.

It has been proven that Full synthetic oil wears out the clutches fast and if you calculate the cost of putting in new clutches and labor not to mention the hassle and the time lost riding your bike, it is better to use semi synthetic.

Semi synthetic is better than standard oil ie: dinosaur oil but standard oil is better than any oil if it is changed often.

So in my opinion if someone can change oil often and on a ninja 250 the average oil change is about $50-$70 total cost....then just put regular oil in and change often.

However to me it makes more sense to take a down the middle approach with my 250 that I own. I use semi synthetic and change it but not as much.

This also SAVES the clutch.

Is there a good time to use Full synthetic?

I would say yes. If you are going long distances like long roads with no stopping or shifting then I would use full but that is rare to find those circumstances.

Semi synthetic oil by Golden Spectro (Brand name) is very good and when I read the ratings it also has the Highest quality anti wear additives compared to others.

Keep in mind the Ninja 250 engine is very inexpensive and you can even by them cheap on ebay from other 250%26#039;s that have been parted out so I am not really worried about the engine as I know I take good care of it by changing regularly and using semi synthetic.

If you price the cost of having to put clutches in again and again full is not a wise way to go unless you are, as mentioned in my paragraph above, driving long distances without shifting mostly...

Do this, its an easy test. Call your local kawasaki dealer and ask them if using full synthetic tends to wear out clutches faster and ask them what oil do they use for their oil changes.

You%26#039;ll see what I mean when you do :-)|||Suggest any reputable manufacturer the important thing is SAE10-40 and an API of at least SM|||Amsoil Synthetic Motorcycle Engine Oil 10W40
