Would you say a Ninja 250 or a Ninja 500 is better for a 16 year old?

I wanna know which would you rather get a ninja 250 or a ninja 500 new. I am planning to Finance it. Also Im paying insurance under my dads name cuz he has a Kawasaki Z1000. Give me ur oppinions. I hear the 250 are nicer looking and are cheaper on gas and insurance.||| Ninja 250...remember it%26#039;s the rider, not the bike, that really makes the difference.

A lot of people complain the 250 %26quot;isn%26#039;t fast enough%26quot;. But, with a skilled rider, it will do zero to 60 in 6 seconds (5.6 if you don%26#039;t use the clutch although that%26#039;s bad for the transmission)...that%26#039;s about as fast as a Nissan 350Z!

The trick is to use the RPM range above 9000 (about 9000-12000rpm)...rev it that high and it%26#039;ll pull like a race bike.

It%26#039;s top speed, about 105mph...is more than you%26#039;ll ever need and a lot more than the maximum legal speed (about 75).

And, trust me (I own one)...even going 0-60 full throttle it takes pretty good arm muscle and is enough to surprise you...and I am 27.

Another good thing...it%26#039;s a very light motorcycle, which makes it great at turns, better than the 500, in fact.

And, to top it off...the insurance for it is much less and the mileage is a good deal better (about 10-12mpg more than the Ninja 500).

**************************************...

And the new 250 looks as good as most 750%26#039;s...and unless you are trying to make a living at drag racing you won%26#039;t notice any problems with performance.|||They are both very nice bikes. Neither is too big for you or too powerful, if ridden wisely and safely.

The 250 is best if you don%26#039;t plan to do a lot of freeway riding. It can take you several exits on the freeway, no problem, but it%26#039;s not at its best at that speed. If you plan on long trips at high speed the 500 would be a better choice. Otherwise the 250 is more than adequate.|||Between the two the 250 is probably better for you. Especially since the 500 has an extremely outdated design. The 250 is more user friendly and has great resale value for when you want to move up in engine size (a lot of them resell for much higher than their MSRP).|||go small at first don%26#039;t kill your self before you an adult and they are cheaper on gas and insurance when you get to be 25 go bigger when you are very experienced and insurance goes way down|||The new 2009 Ninja 250 looks very nice!!! I%26#039;d go with it!!!|||16? you shouldn%26#039;t be on a street bike...

stay with dirt or scooter.|||a 16 year old would be prohibited from having a motorcycle that would be used as transportation on the highways and bi-ways ...I would allow a dirt-bike but positively NOT a crotch rocket like you%26#039;ve mentioned here.. Sorry and if your parents allow it, they are not good parents...I know this isn%26#039;t going to get your vote, or best answer, but it is the answer from a parent who loves their kid more then anything in the world... and I%26#039;m not going to allow my kid to increase his chances of dieing by 1000% by driving one of those organ donor mobiles
